About Redwood Engineering
Redwood Engineering is a multi-disciplinary engineering team that operates out of Trail and Nelson, but the work we do reaches across the Southern Interior — from substations and smelters to community infrastructure and critical retrofits.
We are a small, locally owned company that has been in operation for over 20 years. With many years of local work experience and a commitment to continuous improvement, our team of skilled professionals is able to successfully undertake challenging, exciting, and varied projects across mining, power generation & distribution, pulp & paper, infrastructure, and commercial sectors.
Redwood is not a large firm, but that affords us the advantage to move quickly, think critically, and bring the full attention of our senior team to every client and every challenge.
Our Origin
Our roots run deep in the Kootenays, where not only our story began, but where many of our employees’ parents and grandparents also worked in the local industries that form the region. Redwood’s journey started in the early 1990s, when our founder began working as a structural engineer at CESL (Cominco Engineering Services Ltd), supporting the smelter. It was here that he gained firsthand experience in the complexities of large-scale operations and the value of practical, responsive engineering.
Desiring a new challenge, he eventually branched out into structural consulting—initially forming a design-build firm in collaboration with a local carpenter. Together, they delivered on a mix of industrial and residential development projects.
The partners eventually went their separate ways, paving the way for the establishment of Redwood as it exists today. We have grown to offer civil, structural, mechanical and piping engineering solutions.
For over twenty years, we have provided engineering services to local industrial and municipal clients throughout the region. With a commitment to practical solutions, reliability, and community-focused service, we’ve built lasting relationships rooted in trust and performance.
