Job Description

As the successful candidate, you will join our Trail office, where you’ll have the unique opportunity to work on facilities that are over 100 years old, offering a fascinating glimpse into the engineering history of the area. Your responsibilities will include design, drafting, and site inspections for projects involving reinforced concrete, structural steel, timber, and masonry. You’ll prepare general arrangement and detailed drawings, conduct site inspections to document existing and new structures, and produce technical reports.

Additionally, you will perform structural assessments, inspections, and field reviews while coordinating team activities to ensure projects meet schedules, budgets, and high-quality standards. Building strong relationships with clients will also be a key part of your role as you collaborate with them throughout the process.

    • Annual base salary: $65,000–$100,000, determined by factors such as education and prior work experience.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Relevant experience in structural drafting/design.
  • Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Strong technical competence and attention to detail.
  • Capability to work within designated budgets and schedules.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings.

 Additional Assets

  • Diploma in Structural Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) with ASTTBC.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience in a heavy industrial construction environment.
  • Familiarity with materials such as steel, concrete, timber, and masonry.
  • Background in a consulting environment.
  • Knowledge and application of the BC Building Code.
